SENIOR TOURS

Xplore Africa Tours has gained valuable knowledge of this specific market over the past 20 years. Our tours are fully inclusive and itineraries are constructed to accommodate the specific needs and requirements of the mature traveller.

Comfort and safety is our primary focus. Our tours are all inclusive as we dislike hidden costs and therefore even porterage and gratuities are included. There are no optional excursions and what you see is what you get.

Accommodation is carefully selected and location is of utmost importance. Rooms are comfortable and allocated close to reception areas and on ground level. We tend to stay 3 to 4 nights in the same hotel, thus ensuring maximum leisure time and less time wasted on packing and un-packing, as well as checking into and out of hotels.

Excursions are scenic, interesting, knowledgeable and less strenuous. We feel it is important that each tourist leaves with a better understanding and a balanced impression for our country. Our clients get to see all of South Africa: from natural highlights, to historical sites; from playgrounds of the rich and famous, to the basic living conditions of informal settlements. We visit the most important attractions of the country, but also ponder at the off-road gems. The pace of the tour is slower, with a day at leisure after every 5 to 6 days of sightseeing.

Transportation is done with luxury air-conditioned coaches, where space and comfort is priority. Our guides are all registered and have excellent group experience. Their vast knowledge and friendly personality is a huge asset to the tour.

Special themes are applied on all tours as far as eating experiences are concerned. South Africa has rich cultural diversity, which manifests in the cuisine. We want our tourists exposed to a wide variety of gastronomic experiences while on tour. Restaurants and theme dinners are hence chosen carefully to correlate with the activities of a special day. When visiting the reserves, our clients will dine in the bush and perhaps try some venison. When visiting the seaside, they will enjoy fine seafood. At a local ethnic village, some of the local African cuisine will be sampled and in Durban we enjoy Indian food of course! Buffet dinners at the hotels are something we try to limit to the absolute essential. And even these will be enhanced by local musicians, or a special theme. Tourists leave not only seeing, hearing and feeling South Africa, but also smelling and tasting her!

On our Senior Citizen Tours you will experience:

  • The opportunity to visit with local South African families and have dinner with them.

  • Searching for nocturnal animals by spot light on a night drive.

  • Meeting the women and children of an underprivileged community.

  • A visit to a local fresh produce market at a small seaside village.

  • Breakfast prepared outside under the huge Sausage trees at Tshokwane inside Kruger National Park.

  • Your picture taken, sitting on an ostrich - the largest bird on earth.

When they leave, our tourists speak with authority - and portray a balanced view of our country to their friends and family.
